I’m a big fan of sleep. And dreamy bedding that looks like a cloud? Let’s just say that I might just be going to bed earlier than socially acceptable.
A few months back, I was in the market for new bed sheets and as a conscious consumer, I wanted to find a purpose-driven brand that offered sheets that were:
• Ethically Sourced
• Had a quality product that was reasonably priced
• And a plus would be if they had the heart to give back
And just like that Cotton & Care came into my life and fit the bill with all three.
Evan Feldman and Lisa Sturm, co-founders of Cotton & Care are purpose-driven entrepreneurs who care about what I like to call the 4Ps: passion, people, planet, and philanthropy. So, when I discovered all about them enter me doing a happy dance.
Evan and Lisa were in search of the world’s best cotton and found it. Grown in California, they use Supima® which is so rare, it makes up less than 1% of the world’s cotton.
If they care that much and are passionate about cotton, then I knew it was going to be a quality product.
They are committed to ethical manufacturing and are proud of their traceable supply chain from farm to bed. Every Cotton & Care product was crafted by an expert US worker, earning a livable wage in a facility that cares about its people and the community.
The cotton used is being farmed in the USA, the linens are being sewed in the USA which makes Cotton & Care’s supply chain “local” as they are conscious of the carbon footprint they make in the world.
They’ve cut out the middlemen and are direct to consumer, in an environmentally conscious manner so they can take out unnecessary step to get to you.
“Manufacturing textiles can be a water-intensive process,” said Cotton & Care’s co-founder Lisa, “so that’s why we try our best to do our part in being environmentally responsible.”
What I respect about them is that they don’t stop there and they are also being part of the solution in the world’s water crisis by partnering up with nonprofits.
Which brings us to the fourth P- Philanthropy
50% of Cotton & Care’s profits go to water.org, their nonprofit partner. 50% is huge and is unheard of, even in this socially good space. On average, for every sheet set sold water.org can provide a clean and safe water source to someone in need.
After researching and talking with Cotton & Care personally, their hearts are in the right place and their purpose is evident in all that they do.
My honest review
My sheets were gifted to me in October and once I opened them they were refreshing, bright and clean. Crisp linens but not in a starchy way. I wanted to wait a few months to write a review because I wanted to “test” if the sheets actually got softer after every wash.
By way of background, my current dermatologist has me washing my sheets at least 1x per week and pillowcases 3x per week. Sometimes when I’m lazy before Cotton & Care came into my life, I’ll just take the sheets off, throw it in the hamper and just replace them with my old linens but I committed and for 90 days I stuck with it and only used Cotton & Care sheets and washed them every single week, like the doc instructed.
I’m 90+ days in as I write this and the sheets have noticeably become softer week after week. But what I was pleasantly surprised about, was that the sheets stayed amazingly white. A lot of my prior white sheets have this yellow or grey tint to them from all the use and constant wear, but Cotton & Care’s sheets have maintained that crisp white look to it – and I didn’t even use bleach. I always wondered how hotels maintained their white sheets and Cotton & Care might just be the answer for the average consumer.
The other pleasant surprise was that the pillowcases have a pocket so you can tuck in the pillow into the pillowcase. I don’t know why but all my prior pillowcases in my life and in my house didn’t have this and what a pleasantly random difference it made. For one, it helps me get that cloud look so there’s no peek-a-boo off colored pillow peaking out. Secondly, it does its job for being a pillowcase- it covers the whole thing so you get less junk inside the pillow and your skin is protected. Who would have known?
My English bulldog and Chief Happines Officer Peaches is a fan of sleep too. More like obsessed and just really lazy. I’ll let you judge for yourself if you think she likes them.
