We are all about making a difference in just your everyday. So food is a natural place to talk about making a difference while you meet your own needs.
Whole Foods has been a leader in the mission-driven grocery retailer space. They do good and give back through their high quality products with their customers while understanding the value of community through their commitment to excellence with their employees, farmers, suppliers and the local community around them.
With Amazon taking over Whole Foods in August 2017, the public isn’t sure if we will see everyone’s prime delivery packages with everyday grocery buys or how Amazon will continue with Whole Foods’ original mission.
But here are some online alternatives that do good through groceries as well.
They are like your online club store but without the bulk and more of the savings part.
They offer healthy and natural products at wholesale prices taking away the middlemen by being direct to consumer, promising savings of 25-50% off retail price.
They carry popular brands like Primal Kitchen and Seventh Generation along with their own Thrive Market products.
Your first 30 days of membership are free and then you get access for a year for a $59.99 membership fee. When you join you also sponsor a membership for a low-income family – which therein lies the giving back.
They want everyone, no matter, income level to have access to healthy and natural groceries.
Launched this summer July 2017, Brandless is an online store also offering everyday products from peanut butter to cooking utensils with a mission to give back.
For example, you can purchase a 10-ounce jar of cold pressed, unrefined USDA organic coconut oil made from fresh coconuts for only $3 and they will then donate a meal to those who face hunger through their nonprofit partner Feeding AmericaⓇ.
Not bad considering this isn’t a stand alone find – all of their products are $3.They accomplish this by also taking away the middlemen and what they call “brand tax” – the extra cost consumers pay for national brands.
No matter what you decide, the online world has really made it convenient to not only to get your everyday high quality and healthy products but making a difference in other people’s lives while you are at it too – feeding two birds with one stone kinda thing.
